Senior Scientist, Geoinformatics

We are seeking a highly motivated senior scientist for a position at our Digital products and services unit. The position is located at our Rovaniemi, Espoo or Kuopio office. Your tasks will be to develop and apply machine learning, spatial data mining and statistical methods to geological research and data.

You are expected to have a PhD or equivalent degree in an applicable discipline in natural or technical sciences. We expect you to have the appropriate education and to have also gained work experience in data-analysis, data mining, machine learning, artificial intelligence, deep learning, statistics and mathematics. Skills in Python coding, R –language and Matlab are considered as beneficial. In addition, competence in geographical information systems (GIS), spatial data analysis or geosciences (geology, geophysics, geochemistry) are considered advantages for the candidate. We also expect the applicant to have good teamwork skills. Fluency in English is a minimum language requirement.

The position is fixed-term until 30 April 2021 starting upon applicant availability. Beginning salary will be between EUR 3 780–4 540/month depending on experience and qualifications.
