The GTK Mineral Processing Laboratory (GTK Mintec), located in Outokumpu, is specialised in the study of ore processing and the development of enrichment technologies in cooperation with the mining industry, equipment suppliers and research institutes. GTK Mintec’s research includes everything from mineralogical research and laboratory-scale enrichment tests to continuous test runs at the pilot-scale, making the laboratory unique even at the international level.
GTK Mintec offers tailored research services related to enrichment technologies for the mining industry, providing customers with all the services related to ore enrichment in one place. Our research services aim to create eco-efficient processes that improve the competitiveness of the mining industry and lead to environmentally friendly and sustainable use of mineral resources.
We offer the following services
Process mineralogy
Enrichment technology and test plant operations
Mineral technological environment and recycling studies
GTK Mintec carries out approximately 100 commercial projects for Finnish and international mining companies every year. Research is conducted in cooperation with customers and other research institutions, and is confidential.
GTK Mintec has participated in international EU-funded projects and in the ICI development cooperation project funded by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland. The goal of the ICI project is to develop and modernise the equipment in the mineral processing laboratory of the Central Geological Laboratory in Ulan Bator, Mongolia.
GTK Mintec participates in a number of jointly funded projects in cooperation with Finnish and foreign universities, research institutes, and the mining industry. Examples of projects in which GTK Mintec participates and which are funded by the Finnish Funding Agency for Technology and Innovation:
