Constructability

We assess the constructability of soil and bedrock by examining our existing data. By combining and interpreting different soil and bedrock data, we produce extensive constructability models on the master plan and partial master plan level. The most important soil properties are the bearing capacity of the soil, thickness of the soft soil and the soil slope. The preliminary assessment of the bedrock’s fracture zones is based on our collected bedrock data and the interpretations of our experts are a good starting point for planning underground construction.

We offer the following services

Bedrock surveys
Bedrock constructability
Soft soil surveys

The western extension of the Helsinki Metro

GTK was commissioned by Länsimetro Oy in 2009 to prepare an assessment of bedrock fracture zones in the Espoo region that took into account the latest bedrock studies. The study was further revised and updated in late 2010.
