The Geological Survey of Finland (GTK) provides geoscience data and services for the general public, as well as technical support services for the private sector, state and local agencies, and other geological surveys.
GTK’s consultancy work focuses on assisting clients in identifying and inventorying mineral resources, dealing with environmental challenges, infrastructure development and land use planning. We offer a wealth of technical expertise and an ability to deal with projects in larger economic, environmental and social contexts. We provide customized services to small and medium-sized enterprises and community organizations, as well as participate in national mineral surveys and environmental programs. We are also part of a versatile international collaboration network.
We apply proven project planning and management tools to consulting projects. Our internal quality assurance procedures are based on the ISO 9001 standard.
Combing public regime duties with contractual services has shown itself to be an effective operational model for GTK and its stakeholders. Pricing and accounting structures for consulting and contract activities are managed separately from public sector duties and responsibilities.
Our expert services include broad geoscientific and technical know-how demanded by individual clients and comprehensive engineering of national mineral and environment sectors. In Finland, our expert services focus on services to the exploration industry. Internationally, the GTK is a well-known partner in transferring geological core competences to institutional clients on a contractual basis.
Our technical services comprises of chemical and mineral processing services and airborne and ground geophysical services. In all business operations we apply modern management tools as well as the GTK´s Internal Quality System.GTK laboratories are accredited.
