The GTK collects systematically information about natural resources and their beneficiation through comprehensive mapping, exploration and research programmes, with the aim of supporting sustainable use of both bedrock resources and surficial deposits.
Our programmes on natural resources are: Metals, industrial minerals, natural stones, aggregates (bedrock and sediments), groundwater and peat.
Strategic aims of natural resource exploration and evaluation:
- To produce essential data for the extractive industry, identify areas with mineral potential and find new surficial deposits and bedrock resources.
- To emphasize responsible environmental practices and to include environmental reporting based on sustainable development as part of the exploration, survey and evaluation process
- To actively provide information for the general public and decision makers on the importance of natural resources and their sustainable use.
